9/11 Aircraft 'Black Box' Serial Numbers Mysteriously Absent

Of all major U.S. airline crashes within the U.S. investigated and published by the National Transportation Safety Board during the past 20 years, the 9/11 'black boxes' are virtually the only ones without listed serial numbers.

McConnell/Mukasey: Eavesdropping Outside of FISA Is ‘Illegal’

The White House yesterday escalated its most brazen, Orwellian campaign of the last eight years — shrilly accusing House Democrats of jeopardizing the nation’s security by allowing the Protect America Act to expire even though it’s the President and House Republicans who blocked any extensions of that law.

Chalenging 9/11 - Interview with Jarek Kupsc, Director of The Reflecting Pool

New feature film “The Reflecting Pool” may just be the “All the President’s Men” of our time. No, it doesn’t have Hoffman and Redford. But it is a chilling and important fact-based investigative drama.

US Supreme Court Throws Out Wire-Tapping Case

What a joke. The judiciary rubber stamps executive power regarding illegal surveillance.

You can't win a case unless you can prove you were under surveillance.

However, if you try to introduce evidence (provided by the government) that you WERE under surveillance, that evidence is ruled inadmissible.

Incredible.

More 9/11 Inside Job Evidence

Latest addition to Cooperative Research Timeline:

New evidence suggests that some of the hijackers were assisted by employees of the Saudi government.

Evidence suggests hijackers were actually trained by a CIA asset.

It is unclear why they would have kept the receipts, some mentioning their names, for over a year and then left them at a mosque to be found. After 9/11, a former high-level intelligence official told journalist Seymour Hersh that “Whatever trail was left [by the hijackers] was left deliberately—for the FBI to chase.”

When hijacker Satam Al Suqami’s passport was recovered on 9/11 on the street near the World Trade Center, it was “soaked in jet fuel.”

Senators Corker and Alexander try to subvert Rule of Law.

The Rule of Law is what distinguishes our government from
tyrannical dictatorships and monarchies. Actions that undermine
this principal erode the foundation of our great republic. The
recent votes of Senators Corker and Alexander should be viewed
in this context.

Video - Olbermann on FISA

Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment on today’s Countdown was a scathing rebuke of President Bush for continuing to play the fear card, trying to scare the hell out of the American people and vowing to veto any FISA legislation that does not contain telecom amnesty.

Mythbusting Canadian Health Care

In the universal health care debate, Canada is once again getting dragged into the fracas, shoved around by both sides as either an exemplar or a warning — and, along the way, getting coated with the obfuscating dust of so many willful misconceptions that the actual facts about How Canada Does It are completely obscured in the melee. As a health-care-card-carrying Canadian resident and an uninsured American citizen who regularly sees doctors on both sides of the border, I'm in a unique position to address the pros and cons of both systems first-hand.

The National Lawyers Guild Condemns Senate Grant of Immunity to Lawbreaking Telecommunications Companies

NEW YORK - February 14 - Responding to fear-mongering by the Bush administration, the Senate voted on February 12 to give retroactive immunity to the telecommunications companies that have turned over our telephone and Internet communications to the government. These companies have violated several laws, including the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), Title III, the Communications Act, and the Stored Communications Act, as well as the First and Fourth Amendments to the Constitution.

Telecom retroactive immunity granted

Both Senator Alexander and Senator Corker voted YES on S 2248, granting the Telecommunications companies RETROACTIVE IMMUNITY and undercutting any lawsuit that would have allowed a court to determine whether the actions of these companies violated the law.

Did they hear from you?
Capitol switchboard:
(202) 224-3121

The Senate yesterday — led by Jay Rockefeller, enabled by Harry Reid, and with the active support of at least 12 (and probably more) Democrats, in conjunction with an as-always lockstep GOP caucus — voted to legalize warrantless spying on the telephone calls and emails of Americans, and also provided full retroactive amnesty to lawbreaking telecoms, thus forever putting an end to any efforts to investigate and obtain a judicial ruling regarding the Bush administration’s years-long illegal spying programs aimed at Americans.

U.S. is bankrupt

The government is fiscally bankrupt. If you look at the government’s financial statements published a couple of weeks ago prepared using the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as though the government were a corporation, we’re still seeing an annual deficit there on a GAAP basis of something over $4 trillion when you take out some of the gimmicks they still have in the statements. That’s $4 trillion! That’s not the 168 billion that they were talking about officially as the deficit for the last year, but an actual shortfall of four trillion, including the change in the unfunded liabilities for Social Security and Medicare adjusted for the time value of money. And the significance of that magnitude is that the system is out of control. If the federal government wanted to bring the deficit under control to actually show a surplus, or just a balance, if it raised taxes to take 100% of everyone’s income and corporate profits, it would still be in deficit. It’s beyond containment.

Iranian Oil Bourse - Commentary

A nation-state taxes its own citizens, while an empire taxes other nation-states. The history of empires, from Greek and Roman, to Ottoman and British, teaches that the economic foundation of every single empire is the taxation of other nations.

For the first time in history, in the twentieth century, America was able to tax the world indirectly, through inflation.

Iranian Oil Bourse set to open - Fasten your seat belts

If tiny bubbles floating up from the ocean floor could tell tales, we might learn a thing or two on the surface. On the heels of Iran announcing the grand opening of its new "Oil Bourse," not many US financial institutions are cutting colorful ribbons or breaking Champaign bottles in celebration over this announcement. In fact, Wall Street is painfully developing acid reflex because this could very well be the beginning of the end for monopolizing "Texas Tea" exclusively being sold using only American dollars. In truth, this could very well plummet the American dollar deeper into the abyss of nothingness. Having said that, strange things are surreptitiously happening on the ocean floor with scant reporting in the US corporate mainstream news media...sneaky little devils.

‘Creative Destruction’ – The Madness of the Global Economy

The dominant system of economics is unstable, inimical to social justice and lethally damaging to the environmental support systems on which we all depend. A major failure in professional journalism has been the refusal to analyse this; or even to report that real growth rates in the developed world have been declining since the 1970s. Instead, corporate-employed journalists and mainstream analysts frequently extol the alleged spectacular achievements of an ‘unparalleled’ rise in wealth.

The true purpose of Impeachment

The Earl of Strafford’s case provides a perfect example. His conduct subverted the constitutional prerogatives of parliament in the name of the king. This was the paradigm case for impeachment. And it was recognized by the earliest American commentators, such as Justice Story, who said that impeachment “is not so much designed to punish as to secure the state against gross official misdemeanors.” It is prophylactic, designed to remove an unfit officer from office, rather than punitive. But most important, it is designed to protect the constitutional order from efforts to transform it
