President Bush Requests $1.255 Billion for EERE in FY 2009

President Bush's proposed budget for fiscal year 2008 is green in at least one sense: it was the first federal budget proposal to be transmitted to Congress electronically, saving 20 tons of paper.

Bush talks about improving MPG 20% in the future, while Europeans get 40 mpg now

While Detroit and George Bush talk about cars that get 35 miles per gallon in 10 years, Europe produces cars that typically get 40 miles per gallon now.

Americans would be surprised to know that the Europeans have already designed a low priced car using existing non-hybrid technology that will get 157 mpg.

Europeans angry after Bush climate speech 'charade'

Sep. 29- President Bush was castigated by European diplomats and found himself isolated on Sept. 28 after a special conference on climate change ended without any progress.

European ministers, diplomats and officials attending the Washington conference were scathing, particularly in private, over Bush's failure once again to commit to binding action on climate change.

US nuclear dump plan in danger after seismic shock

The most expensive public works project in the US was in disarray on Sept. 25 after it emerged that a planned giant nuclear dump would be located on a fault line.

Rock samples from deep within Yucca Mountain, in Nevada, showed that the fault runs directly beneath the site where the US federal government planned to store 77,000 tons of highly radioactive waste.

Bush to host 'greenwashing' climate summit

Sep. 27- For the first time in 16 years, a major environmental conference opens in Washington, hosted by the Bush administration. But no concrete results are expected, and that – say European participants – is the point of this high-level meeting.

Far from representing a Damascene conversion on climate change by President Bush, the two-day gathering of the world's biggest polluting nations is aimed at undermining the UN's efforts to tackle global warming, say European sources. "The conference was called at very short notice," said one participant. "It's a cynical exercise in destabilising the UN process."

Threatened species Red List shows escalating 'global extinction crisis'

Corals and seaweed have joined the ranks of threatened species, and more apes and reptiles are now facing extinction according to the World Conservation Union, which warns of a "global extinction crisis".

The conservation group's annual Red List of threatened species, published today, found that the extinction crisis had escalated in the last year with 16,306 species now at the highest levels of extinction threat, equivalent to almost 40% of all species in the survey.

A quarter of all mammals, a third of all amphibians and one in eight birds on the 2007 IUCN Red List are in jeopardy.

More than 180 species have been added since 2006 to the ranks of those classified as endangered, critically endangered or vulnerable.

Bill Moyers Journal - SocioBiology

"Wilson seems to have been unaware of the full political implications of his final chapter," explains Paul Gross of THE NEW CRITERION online.

"He saw no more harm in deploying biology in the study of human behavior than in the study of ants or chimpanzees." Eventually, the controversy subsided, the new field of sociobiology was legitimized, and Wilson was already finishing what could be his most important book, THE DIVERSITY OF LIFE (1992), a 424 page work about the tremendous interconnectivity of Earth's biosphere, and how human civilization is gravely threatening its natural symbiosis.

Over half of the world's species could die out by the end of the century due to man-made ecological hardships, what Wilson calls the "sixth extinction."

ExxonMobil Lied, Continues to Lavishly Fund Prominent Global Warming Deniers

In January, oil giant ExxonMobil tried to “soften” its stance on climate change, asserting that it was “misunderstood” and now acknowledges the contribution of humans to global warming. Subsequently, the company promised that it would “not be providing any further funding” to groups that distort global warming science, such as the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

But a new report from GreenPeace reveals what the company “didn’t mention” to the public. According to its IRS reports, Exxon is still actively funding at least 14 organizations “for their climate change work.”

These groups include organizations like Frontiers for Freedom, which recently released a report “dedicated entirely to questioning global warming science, policy and attacking Al Gore.”

Blasting American Infrastructure Away

CODE RED, AMERICANS! Screaming, flashing, neon-bright, God Almighty RED!!! Not just a single disaster, but multiple, biblical-level catastrophes are being plotted by a diabolical, heretofore unnamed network of terrorists who're out to destroy America with an unprecedented series of attacks.

They have their sights on our busiest airports. Also our dams, with the potential for horrific mass destruction. In addition, our municipal water systems and unified electric-power grids are on their list. Plus, we have proof that these ruthless cowards, in zealous pursuit of their own narrow ideology, have already spread into every area of our country with copycat plans to bring down countless numbers of America's schools, directly targeting our children.
